The Taxes and Fees window creates tax and fee shortcuts that can be applied when entering a deal. The data entered in this screen is used to pre-fill fields with appropriate numbers when setting up and processing deals.
To access the Taxes and Fees window, click on the Maintenance menu and select State Fee Schedules from the pull-down menu.
State Fee Schedule
The Taxes and Fees window is shown below. In the top left is a listing of all available fee schedules.
Clicking and highlighting one of these fee schedules will select that schedule and display the associated fees in the lower portion of the screen. Fee Schedules can be added, deleted, or edited.
The window contains three sections: Taxation Rules, Default Fees, and Default Financing.
In the Taxation Rules section, there is a check box 'Use Zip Code Tax Table'.
Checking this box will automatically use the dealer's zip code to determine the correct sales tax rates.
When using this feature, always double check all tax rates for accuracy.
To delete a fee schedule from the list, select the fee schedule and click the Delete Schedule button, then the Save/Exit button.
To add a new fee schedule, click the Add Schedule button. A new window will appear 'Add NEW Fee Schedule'. Type the name into the field, then click OK. This new name will appear in the listing at the top-left.
Add State Fee Schedule
Once a new fee schedule has been created and named, fill in the taxes and fees that will be used when processing a deal.
In the Taxation Rules section, enter data into the following fields:
•State: Click on the down arrow to view a pull-down list of state abbreviations. Select the state appropriate for your dealership.
•Tax Rate: Enter your state's tax rate as a percentage.
•Lease Tax Rate: Enter your state's lease tax rate as a percentage.
•Warr Tax Rate: Enter a warranty tax rate.
•Local Rate: Enter your local municipality's tax rate as a percentage.
In the Default Fees section, enter data into the fields that are customized for the selected state. Different sets of default fee options appear depending on which state is selected. The following is a list of potential fees for the State of Pennsylvania:
•Transfer: the total of all applicable transfer fees.
•Plate Reg: the total of all applicable plate registration fees.
•Title: the total of all applicable title fees.
•Notary: the total of all applicable notary fees.
•Doc (non-txbl): the total of all applicable documentation fees which are non-taxable.
•Doc (txbl): the total of all applicable documentation fees which are taxable.
•Temp Reg Fee: the total of all applicable temporary registration fees.
Note: Other fees may be available depending on your dealership's state.
In the Default Financing section, leave all selections as set up by the system unless instructed otherwise by the Friday Sytems, Inc. support staff.
